I’m a Lunatic

“Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anybody.”

I set my alarm for 1:00 a.m., crawled out of bed, and drove to Sweetwater Preserve still wearing my flannel jammies. I wanted to witness the partial lunar eclipse for myself. My destination was an empty parking lot out of town. A remote area away from the city lights of Tucson.

The dramatic lunar climax happened at 2:02 a.m. The celestial orb turned a coppery red and stayed that way for the longest partial moon eclipse in 580 years.

I was there. I was one with the moon. I loved the moon and the moon loved me. A moon bath. Not a hot springs. But a cleansing. And, a healing.

Not only was it a lunar eclipse, but a full moon. The Beaver Moon. Named for the time of year animals take shelter in their dens, prepared for the long winter ahead. Obviously, before climate change.

Anyone who has ever worked in a school, hospital, prison, or other institution knows what happens when there is a full moon. All hell breaks lose.

On Thursday, there were three fights at school. I was involved in one of them.

Yes, I caused quite a disturbance when I told a colleague to mind her own business. I showed my dark side to the busy body.

It did not go well, this woman “did not like my tone.”

She rallied her clique and scheduled a meeting with the boss. Next week, I must meet with the principal to clarify my job description and discuss my tone.

I plan to blame the full moon.

Friday evening, I went on a hike. There is something special about hiking at night and witnessing the full moon rise over the Catalina Mountains. The desert is breathtaking during the day and magical at night.

The great thing about having a less than enjoyable job is, I never take a Friday night for granted. No matter what, I get out and do something to celebrate the culmination of another week.

The full moon hike set a calmer tone for my entire weekend.

Full moons are about clearing the clutter. According to astrologers and mystics, the full moon is a perfect time to focus on positive changes and letting go of anything that is preventing a dream from coming to fruition. An eclipse is an even more powerful change agent.

The Beaver Moon in Taurus supports alignment with personal values and finding security amidst chaos.

I consider astrology a useful tool to explore and learn about myself. A Libra would usually avoid conflict like the plague. (COVID) However, there has been a shift in the cosmos. I don’t seek out confrontation but I’m not going to shrink from it either.

Another celestial event taking place now is called a T-square. It happens when three planets square one another and create a lot of tension which, in the case of these specific three planets, (Mars, Saturn, and Uranus) could result in aggression, raging outbursts, and frustration.

Maybe I’ll blame my unpleasant tone on Your Anus.

The theme of my horoscope for the eclipse is embracing balance. As a Libra, I tend to give or take (shit) to an extreme. This eclipse is showing me the middle ground that will bring a win-win scenario.

It’s not too late to take the blame.

I could have been kinder.

I could have been more diplomatic.

I could have been a professional.

Instead, I showed my dark side.

And my anus.
